Kitchen Roll

 

I left an old camera with a roll of out of date film in the kitchen for about a month, to be on hand for the various small occurrences in and around the kitchen table.

Then I finished the film and proceeded to leave it about month before getting it developed; typical.

Notebooked

I'd used these photographs in the portfolio I hastily put together for the college interview last year. I then continued to use the book they were in as a visual diary in the second half of the school year, completely forgetting about these. I came across them again when I went rooting around in the stuff under my bed.

Scale model houses covered in flour and mold spores, left to fester and photographed.

I love them for their resemblance to underwater wrecks, like they're looming out of the depths while you float around in one of those little submersibles with the massive lights on the front, your face pressed against the glass, wondering.

Brief

An obsession that flared up on Friday and frittered away this evening. Or maybe I just got fed up with the cold. Either way, it's out of my system now; though I'm sure I'll catch myself standing in the road outside people's houses in the dark taking photographs trying to stand as still as possible so they don't come out blurry.
